The Finance Committee’s job is to serve as the first vetting force for any student or student organization looking to request funds from SGA.  As a committee, we hold hearings to allow students to explain their events and present their supporting quotes so that the numbers given to us on the excel sheet, match what’s being requested. We enforce our governing document, the financial resolutions, and senators vote on how the Student Activity fund is allocated. As a closed committee, we have a cap of 6 senators. The Finance Committee meets Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

From the Bylaws (Article IV, Section 4)

The Finance Committee:

  1. The Committee Chair of the Finance Committee shall be the Director of Finance.

  2. The membership of the Finance Committee shall consist of a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of six (6) Senators.

    • The Finance Committee is a Closed Committee
  3. The voting membership shall consist of six (6) Senators serving on the committee, excluding the Committee Chair, unless in the event of a tie. 

  4. The Finance Committee shall review all proposed budgets and financial expenditures for submission to the Senate and assist the Director of Finance in the financial operations of the SGA. 

    1. The Finance Committee may not intervene with the Executive Position Budgets.

  5. The Finance Committee must follow the Financial Resolutions of the SGA.

  6. The Finance Committee shall be responsible for marking items for return to the SGA Reusable Inventory Service (RIS). 

  7. Quorum shall be counted amongst all voting members.
