Stakeholders are simply people that have something to benefit from the information that we discover from our research. Everyone living in Danbury, elected officials, and people that work in Danbury all have stake in improving the walkability and accessibility of Danbury. We made sure to reach out and find ways to connect with as many stakeholders as possible.

One team produced a graphic to advertise the walk audit in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. This was helpful to reach out to the Danbury stakeholders because there are many different languages spoken in Danbury. If we could have improved the accessibility of the walk audit we could have included a flyer in Arabic. We shared the posters on Instagram and Facebook to increase the number of people that were able to see the posters. Beyond this we created an Eventbrite so that we could keep track of all the people that signed up for the walk before the day of the event.

Lastly, contacting elected officials of Danbury and the surrounding area was the most significant part. We reached out to these officials multiple times to try and encourage them to come. We reached out to over 15 officials and worked to make sure that they knew what we were trying to do for them and the town of Danbury.

On the day of the event, we were thrilled to have mayoral candidate Roberto Alves and Danbury state representative Farley Santos join us on the walk audit, along with nearly 40 students, faculty members, two police officers, and local residents. This was among the most well-attended walk audit that Desegregate-CT has ever been a part of, and we’re very proud of that.

Click here to view the Danbury NewsTimes Article

We spent much of our planning time working on getting stakeholders to the walk audit.
