<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alpha Delta Pi<\/a><\/strong>, or ADPi<\/strong>, was established at WCSU in 1990. ADPi is an international sorority, with over 159 collegiate chapters across the United States and Canada. Their main philanthropic focus is the Ronald McDonald House Charities<\/strong>, an independent American nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. One event that ADPi is known for is their annual Bingo Night<\/strong> where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the RMHC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Gamma Phi<\/a>,<\/strong> or DGPhi<\/strong>, was established at WCSU on May 7th, 1990. Delta Gamma Phi is the first of the local organization founded at WCSU which means they can only be found at Western. Their motto is \u201cindividually unique, together complete\u201d, which is something they all hold close to their hearts. The motto goes to show that people all have different stories and backgrounds but, in the end, they all come together like pieces to puzzle. DGPhi is a strong group of women who all hold their sisterly bond close to their hearts and love giving back to the community. Delta Gamma Phi has two philanthropies, Ann\u2019s Place and NORD<\/strong>. Ann\u2019s Place is a non-profit support center that provides a variety of services to individuals with cancer and their family members. NORD, or better known as the National Organization of Rare Disorders is an American non-profit organization aiming to provide support for individuals with rare diseases by advocating and funding research, education, and networking among service providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kappa Chi Alpha<\/a>, or KXA<\/strong>,  was established on November 28th, 1988 at WCSU. KXA is the second of two local sororities at WCSU, meaning it is unique to only our campus. Kappa Chi Alpha\u2019s main philanthropic focus is Dream Come True of Western Connecticut<\/strong>, a non-profit organization that have a goal to fulfill the DREAMS of seriously, chronically and terminally ill children (ages 4 to 19) in the Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties of Connecticut. One of KXA\u2019s main fundraisers is their annual Jail & Bail Fundraiser at Homecoming where students and alumni can donate to \u201clock up\u2019 others until more money is fundraised for them to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sigma Delta Tau<\/a><\/u><\/strong>,\u00a0or\u00a0Sig Delt<\/strong>, was established at WCSU on March 25th, 2012. They advocate for the empowerment of each member to reach their fullest potential by enriching the experience of each other through building lasting relationships, promoting strength in community, and fostering personal growth. They are a national sorority that works with many philanthropies including,\u00a0Prevent Child Abuse America<\/strong>,\u00a0Jewish Women International, Sigma Delta Tau Foundation.\u00a0<\/strong>To aid these charities their chapter holds many events including annual\u00a0\u201cBid it to Win it\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Fall basket auction dedicated for Jewish Women International and\u00a0Pinwheels for Prevention<\/strong>\u00a0for PCAA.\u00a0Other events can be contributed to The SDT Foundation in which they proudly promote the\u00a0One Hope Fund<\/strong>\u00a0that directly supports sisters experiencing unforeseen hardship..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sigma Chi<\/a><\/strong> was established at WCSU in 1988. Sigma Chi is an international fraternity with organizations across the United States. Their main philanthropic effort is Huntsman Cancer Institute<\/strong>, a NCI-designated cancer research facility and hospital located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Every year, Sigma Chi create a week long competition called Derby Days<\/strong> where anyone can sign up with a team and compete, with all proceeds being donated to Huntsman Cancer Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tau Kappa Epsilon<\/a>,<\/strong> or TKE<\/strong>, was established at WCSU on May 1st, 1993. TKE is an international fraternity with chapters all across the United States, and even on in Canada. Their main philanthropic efforts is Saint Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital<\/strong>, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers with a mission to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Every year, TKE hosts their annual Jumpathon<\/strong> where brothers jump on trampolines set up on campus for 24 hours straight to spread awareness and raise funds for St. Jude.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
